Road-show “Invest in Ukraine 2013”: Direct Dialogue of Ukraine and the UK
International investment road-show “Invest in Ukraine 2013”, which took place on 21 February 2013 in London, broke the ice of future co-operation between Ukraine and Europe.
“Invest in Ukraine 2013” became the first Ukrainian road-show in the UK, which provided the platform for the direct communication of Ukrainian top management and British investment community.
The road-show, organised by Ukrainian Business Centre in London, Business Federation Kyiv and investment holding Pro Capital (as the general partner) aimed to build the bridge of trust and credibility between Ukrainian businesses and British investors.
During the road-show British investors had an opportunity to examine 7 investment projects from fast growing medium size Ukrainian companies: Construction of Autochemistry Factory (Cherkassy Autochemistry Plant), Cultivation of Soyabeans (InTerra), Expansion of the Internet Provider (Lanet), Food Industry Modernizarion (Teplocom), Innovative Technologies of Housing Construction (AK Engineering), Lumber Processing Complex (Premier Wood) and Manufacturing of Steel Panel Radiators (Ukr Spets Holding).
All of those companies are actively involved in the real economy and aim to expand their existing business, requiring investments of USD 10-15-20-25 mln.
The participants of the road-show, targeting business opportunities of Ukraine included representatives of British and European investment banks and private equity, such as Royal Bank of Canada, Gryphon, NSBO etc, as well as private high net worth individuals.
Robin Henshall, the head of natural resources department at NSBO: “The reason why I am here is that I perceive Ukraine as the country with the high potential, with natural resources. We are interested in oil, gas, metals and coal industry, as well as agriculture. Traditionally, Ukraine has always been strong exactly in those spheres. And it hasn’t gone anywhere. Ukraine is the large country by territory which is well located geographically and as far as I know, has highly motivated educated professionals. Thus, Ukraine has all ingredients for the successful future”.
The projects presentations were followed by One-to-One meetings of Ukrainian entrepreneurs and British investors, which allowed both sides to get involved into the detailed discussion of potential co-operation, ask questions and exchange opinions.
Ruslan Romanenko, CEO of In Terra: “By 2030 the population of the earth will grow rapidly and demand for the food will double. Ukraine should use this opportunity, because it has the best black soils in the world. However, the low level of mechanization remains the problem for Ukraine and a lot of works are still done by hands. The effectiveness of agricultural sector can be increased through the improvement of its mechanization.
The road-show was fully supported by the Embassy of Ukraine in the United Kingdom.
The road-show attracted representatives of Ukrainian –British organisations in the UK (Ukrainian Institute, British-Ukrainian Society etc) and mass media (Business channel, Ukraine Business Insight, RussianMind etc).
After the official part all guests were invited to continue efficient networking during wine and canapé reception, sponsored by Kolonist and enjoy Ukrainian folk music (Zemlyaky band).
