Ukraine earns EUR 10 million at EURO 2012
25.06.12

Ukraine's national football team have earned EUR 10 million for the Ukrainian Football Federation for their participation in the EURO 2012 European Football Championship, the Ukraine 2012 Information Center has reported.

"It is slightly more than five percent of the EUR 196 million in bonuses, which UEFA allocated for all EURO 2012 participants. Our team earned money in the following way: EUR 8 million was a bonus for each team participating in the tournament, EUR 1 million was earned after a victory over Sweden, and EUR 1 million for the third place in Group D. Of course, the amount could be larger, but a mistake made by a Hungarian team of referees who did not award Marko Devic's goal against England has not allowed Ukraine to earn at least a draw and an additional EUR 500,000," reads the statement.

In addition to financial bonuses in the group stage, UEFA will pay EUR 2 million to each quarterfinalist, EUR 3 million to each semifinalist, and EUR 4.5 million to each finalist. European champions will receive an additional EUR 7.5 million. The winner's overall earnings could reach EUR 23.5 million. Only Germany have a chance of obtaining this amount since they won all group matches.
